Mukilteo, WA - letters from January 20th, 26th and Feb 3rd! (through week 49?)

Well, Elder Udall is 3 weeks away from his one year mark.  Most people say it went really fast.  In fact, he says it went really fast.  I disagree.

His blog has not been updated, for which I was scolded via email yesterday.  He said "I sent you two long letters the past two weeks, what do you mean you are behind!?"  (Actually, it was WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ARE BEHIND)  I told him that I was too busy watching soap operas and eating bon-bons to do the blog.  Isn't that what all moms do all day long?  (If you could only see the pile of clean clothes taking over our downstairs room!)   Since I need to get back to my bon-bons, I didn't clean up the letters.  Good luck reading them.  And you will know why I clean them up.  :-)

January 20, 2014

My week. We had lots of lessons. We helped a less-active guy clean out his apt (lives in our complex). It was SOOOO dirty but now it is SOOO clean! Hahaha. We had dinner with him too. After that we had a lesson with an investigator named Jerry. He is great. Sadly he has had some medical problems for the past little while. He has to get his blood checked/drawn everyday. Sadly we only got through the Pre Earth Life in the Plan of Salvation. We got to see another guy after that is married to a member. Got some photos from that visit. Also had a lesson with a younger lady (less active but starting to come back). Her name is Crystal and she has two kids. New born-3 months or so and a 5 yr old. Dinner with the Davis family. Oh yeah...we visited a single mom and son this week. He is autism and was given way high dose of 2 drugs that literally made him think there were voices in his head and they were telling him not to drink water. Luckily he is drinking water now. Its a crazy situation but now he is doing a little better. Had a lesson with a guy that used to meet with missionaries and now has committed to meet with missionaries again. He told us we were the 6th or 7th missionary companionship he has had teach him. Had a lesson with a couple that the ward has wanted to come back to church for a while. They are very nice and are kind enough to let us in to there place. Had a meeting but after the meeting we had basketball with the Elders Quorum. Sooo fun. Roberta's son Tyler came. He is 6' 8" and a total baller. He jumped not even a foot and could put his hand in the hoop. Hahaha! Hopefully he will come to trax tonight. EQ activity with GO-Carts! :) I will take pics! Friday we helped a guy move some stuff from storage to his shed....to much stuff. GARAGE SALE! Also, had the Optometrist. Got prescription. Dinner with Seattle. We had Teriyaki Burgers and Ceaser Salad...SO GOOD! Had a lesson with Roberta Saturday night with President and Sis. Lee. Helped Nick (a priest in the ward) on his car in the morning. Well I handed Nick and ES the tools hahaha! Sunday was good except VERY few people came because of the Seahawks game. They won which means not this sunday but February 2nd after Stake Conf. I don't know what we will do. HAHAHA. The streets were DEAD on sunday so I wonder about next sunday. Not to much happened on Sunday. Yesterday we went hiking down Meadowdale  beach. We had a "linner" BBQ there too. It was a ton of fun. Hope your week was fun too!

January 26, 2014
We have stake conf this week and I don't know what we will do with the game on sunday at 330. I REALLY hope they change it to Monday because of weather. That would be SOOO nice!!! Then we can just do PDAY and the rest of WA can do their thing! HAHA :)
(Obviously this did not happen, and the Seahawks did win. But the missionaries were told NOT to watch the game, and not to be at a member's home who was.  They were instructed to be in at 6pm similar to Halloween and New Years Eve)

We went to this GOcart place on Tuesday night with the Elders quorum called TRAXX. It was lots of fun. Don't have any pics from the actual race do have some of the before garb :) District Meeting Wednesday and lessons with a couple people. We had dinner with a 18 yr old priest named Nick! Sick kid! We had dinner with him at Subway. Well actually he came with us to a lesson and we had money from a member to GO have dinner after so we went to subway. BBALL that night with a investigators son named Tyler. He is 6' 8" SO tall haha. Thursday was exchange day with Elder Wells. We went down and up two of the steepest hills in our area that day. Neither for fun. He used to serve in this ward so it was fun for him. Had dinner with Seattle and Ryan that night as well. Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo with Ceaser salad and a delicious chocolate cake. Friday we....did service for an investigator named Costa. Nice guy. Smokes WAY to much but nice guy. That night we had dinner with the Jacobson's (bishop and family). SOOO awesome! Love that family! Had a wonderful lesson after that with Brother and Sister Mauer. They are awesome! Sister Mauer knows sign language and I love signing with her. We had a lesson with Roberta. She is thinking about a date to be baptized. She should have a baptismal date by the end of this week!  Saturday was busy! Started with bfast at the WML and families home! Did service for Costa again. Dinner with the Ferrers and lesson with a less active guy named Paul after that! REALLY good week. Sunday was our usual "meeting" day. Cool miracle! We got out of a meeting with bishop and our dinner (2nd counselor in bishopric) was finishing tithing and what not and said he wouldn't be done for another 30 min. well we could have sat there in the warmth of the building or could have gone out and seen someone who was close to the church. Well we decided to get a little cold and go see someone. That someone wasn't there or well they didn't answer. Instead we got a SOLID potential who has a VERY nice truck and was so worth get cold for 20 min.! Cookie party at the Ward Mission Leader's house later that night and that was about it! :)

My companion and I have been sick for the past week straight! We have had a couple of lessons though and still have taught as much as we could. Lots of good dinners this past week though. Hopefully this week will fill up with people. The Seahawks won the super bowl which means lost of happy "Washingtonians". The Offensive Coordinator (Darrell Bevell is actually a member of the Church. Don't know if he is active or not but he's a member, and served a mission in OH. Slow week sorry!

One final word from home
A pic was posted on Chris's Facebook by Patrick Decker.  Patrick was a dad in Chris's first area.  He caught Chris at Stake Conference (a meeting of several congregations) and posted the photo below and added this comment:

Elder Udall and his companion were asked to do an impromptu 1st discussion in front of Stake Conference, with the Stake President and his wife as the recipients of the first discussion, in front of a visiting general authority, and they knocked it out of the park.  He has a natural, sincere, flowing ability to testify of Christ in an honest way that resonates with people. He is unassuming, unpretentious, fun loving, hard working elder, and if my sons can learn to emulate him, I will be very proud!
